The SCONUL scheme is a valuable initiative that connects libraries and promotes collaboration across the United Kingdom and Ireland. Joining the SCONUL scheme opens a world of opportunities for our library and its patrons.

  • If you are a full-time undergraduate student studying a course at our Ipswich campus, you may be entitled to reference only access to other university libraries.
  • If you are a member of staff, a PhD student, a postgraduate student, or a part-time and/or distance learning undergraduate student studying a course at our Ipswich campus, you may be entitled to visit and borrow resources from other university libraries.

To join the SCONUL scheme, go to the SCONUL Access website and apply online.

  • Your application will be sent to the University of Suffolk Library
  • We will review your application and the current standing of your library account. Please note that we reserve the right to reject your application if you there are significant unpaid charges, lost or long overdue items associated with your account.
  • If your application is approved, you will receive a confirmation email.

Please note that all academic libraries have different internal procedures and may not permit walk-in access. We advise liaising directly with individual libraries in advance of your planned visit to avoid disappointment.
