Learning Services in Focus: Craig Martin, Academic Liaison Librarian

by Craig Martin on 2018-05-14T10:00:00+01:00 | 0 Comments

This regular series, "Learning Services: In Focus" features a different member of the team each week.  This week it is the turn of, Craig Martin.

My role as an Academic Liaison Librarian is rather wide!  I look after the resource needs for the Schools of Business, Psychology & Education, Law & Social Sciences and Science, Engineering & Technology.  I like the fact that I look after a diverse range of different areas and undergraduate and postgraduate students, which makes every day interesting.  I enjoy supporting students and staff with resource needs as well as running tutorials, workshops and other sessions to help users access relevant material and to become independent learners.  My areas of interest includes user experience,  effective deployment of social media, library development and the enhanced use of technology to supporting students.  Previously I have worked in a number of different libraries, including primary, secondary, FE and Public so have been lucky enough to have experienced working with a wide range of learners with differing needs and requirements.

Outside of work, I like travelling and catching up with my friends and family.  I moved house recently, so decorating and improving it has taken up a lot of my spare time too.  I also enjoy music, mainly of the 1980s variety, and at one point co-hosted a radio show on the very subject.  I have recently started to enjoy baking,  and my colleagues in Learning Services are often brought in samples to test out!
