Problems Accessing Proquest Journal Articles

by Aaron Burrell on 2017-07-17T11:42:53+01:00 | 0 Comments

We are aware of an issue accessing Proquest Journal articles.  The issue arises when accessing through both the Summon Discovery tool and directly with the Proquest databases.

Following further investigation we have been able to ascertain that the problem relates to the Google Chrome browser.  This is due to the way that Google Chrome handles SSL certificate issues, rather than allowing the user to navigate the issue, it blocks access to the content completely.

Proquest have recently changed their content systems to require SSL certification from the browser that is accessing the content.  Due to the authentication system we have in place currently, and the way Proquest handles this, a certificate error is generated.

To access any of the Proquest journals, please use other browsers such as, Firefox, IE or Safari.  These will allow you to navigate passed the certificate error and access the content.  Below is a link to a help guide showing how to navigate passed the certificate issue.

We are in the process of migrating and upgrading our authentication systems for improved access to our eResources, this will be completed as soon as possible.  We will update once we have a more accurate date.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
