Inter-Library Loans

Inter-library Loans

Resource requests allow us to borrow books or receive copies of articles or chapters from other institutions and organisations around the UK. If the library doesn’t own a book or article you would like to use then we will try and source it for you.

Terms of use: The item requested will be taken from your allocation. If you have exceeded your allocation you may be charged. We will confirm this with you before proceeding with the request. When requesting a print loan, the loan period will be specified by the lending library, usually for a period of 3 - 5 weeks. If further renewals are required you will be charged a renewal fee. The British Library charges a standard fee of £179.20 for lost books which the borrower has to pay in the event that a book is not returned on time. This is non-refundable. Items borrowed on interlibrary loan should be handled with care and returned in the condition they are loaned.
