Brightspace Support: What's New?

by Olly Fayers on 2019-09-12T11:26:00+01:00 | 0 Comments

Over the summer, the Digital Learning team have been busy working away at a range of Brightspace support materials for staff and students.

For staff, there’s a new Brightspace Introduction CPD Course, which can be found within Brightspace itself. This is broken into three sections: ‘Creating content’, ‘Managing Assessment’, and ‘Communication’. Not only does the course contain handy video tutorials and explanations, but the course itself will also show you what an effective Brightspace module can look like.

We cover topics such as using templates to make your content look great, annotating assignments using the new Brightspace annotations feature, and using dates to release or withdraw content.

For students, there’s a new support area on LibGuides. This contains a few video tutorials for common tasks such as logging in, navigating, submitting assignments and contributing to discussions. There’s also a useful FAQ section, which also allows students to ask questions. As we solve common queries that are referred to us by course teams, we will add to this section for any recurring queries.

This support area will cover many of the questions that students will have when they first get to grips with their online learning environment, and will be a useful reference point after their induction.

We hope that they’re of use to staff and students alike. In the meantime, staff should contact learningservices@uos.ac.uk with any Brightspace queries. Students should see the LibGuides pages for who to contact based on any issue that they experience.

In the meantime, workshops have been made available to staff. You can book yourself onto one by booking at https://libguides.uos.ac.uk/celt/ema/support-training, where you’ll also find information about drop-in sessions.

I’m also on Twitter, generally posting updates about Brightspace developments: @OllyUoS
