The move to block delivery is an incremental and evolutionary process. Our work begins in Summer 2020, and will provide us with opportunities to understand best practice for our courses and our students, while drawing on experiences and practices shared from colleagues who have already made a successful transition to this approach.
The guidelines here are intended to help colleagues begin their work, by positioning some ideas for design and approach within an initial framework for the ideal we hope to achieve. This framework will continue to develop as we progress through the coming academic cycles. Guidance is not presented as the expected standards for delivery for September 2020.
Updates will be shared by CELT by email, and through our support pages.
The focus for level 4 is on the development of core academic skills, confidence and resilience as well as the foundation stones in subject knowledge.
Assessment load should be light, for both students and staff, while ensuring that students can demonstrate required learning outcomes.
Assessment strategy should make use of be regular low risk, in-line, formative assessment, used to support the development of skills and confidence.
Each assessment activity should provide feedback to scaffold and stretch learning.
Brightspace should be integral to all learning activities, including those taking place on campus; in seminars and tutorials.
