Online Taster Blueprint

An online taster session can help applicants find out more about the course and understand whether it is something they would like to pursue further. It has been designed to give both applicants and prospective students a better idea of what is involved. By participating in this session applicants can view videos from the course team and access related materials and participate in interactive activities.

The online taster can be access from a number of paths, as seen below.  It can be promoted through the main University website, social media channels or through traditional open days.

Once an application is made, a further, more detailed ‘closed’ online taster course could be designed, with the aim of helping conversion from applicant to enrolment.  This extended taster would sit within the new induction module in Brightspace, and be made available once an applicant has accepted an offer from the University and course team.

The table below shows suggested tools and timings for each stage of the online taster.  Each taster can be constructed differently but built around these core principles with the overall activity being an hour in length.
