CELT led Educational Research

Starting 1 March 2022

Invitation to staff involved in educational research to join a Peer Writing Review Group

Why?
Following the recent University of Suffolk’s Academic Framework consultation, staff who are established or emergent educational researchers may welcome the opportunity to engage with peers with expertise and interest in education to develop their academic writing towards research proposals and publications.

What?
CELT are introducing a monthly, 90 minute action-learning style group, where peers can bring a focused writing ‘problem’ that they would like to develop with peer support. The group will be coordinated by Dr Jo Trowsdale, Associate Professor for Education and Social Mobility. Sessions will take place 4.30– 6pm on the first Tuesday of the month, starting March 1st 2022 (link will take you to the Teams site if you are unable to join us  in person) in W4.16.

How?
We are proposing using an action-learning style approach, to allow individuals to share and develop a particular aspect of writing with peers in a small group of peers. To give us time to plan and to begin from a common starting point, the first session on 1st March will be different. It will explore ‘What makes a good research paper?’ In preparation you are asked to read this educational research piece and to be ready to talk about it in pairs or threes with peers. We will make use of this framework for reflection and discussion.

There will also be opportunity at this session for participants to hear more about and discuss the action-learning style process proposed for sessions from April.

How do I get involved?
Please follow this link to a form which will register your interest.

Any questions please email jo.trowsdale@uos.ac.uk.
