Workshop Aims and Outcomes

Aim

This will be a practical session which will demonstrate the usefulness of these tools and guide the user through setting up and experimenting with them.

Participants will be shown how to set up alerts for discovering research directly related to their own specific research interests.

Participants will also be shown how to join an appropriate list to keep them up-to-date with developments and debate within their own fields of interest.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the session students will:

  • Appreciate the usefulness of current awareness tools in saving valuable research time.

  • Set up journal TOCS and database alerts using an email alert or an RSS feed.

  • Join appropriate email discussion lists.
