Library User Guide

Library Study Spaces 

The University of Suffolk Library offers a range of study spaces suitable for different learners.

For more information about each space, click through the tabs below.

Group Study

Group study areas are for collaboration, discussion and socializing. These areas are likely to be noisier and are situated away from quiet and silent study areas. Please ensure that you continue to be considerate to those around you when using this space.

Group Study Pods

Learning services Group study pods are located in the group study area to the left of the main entrance under the mezzanine.

Each pod has seating for up to 6 people. Pods 1 and 2 are available on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Pods 3, 4 and 5 each have a 42" wall-mounted screen and a PC. These must be booked in advance; you can book up to two 1 hour slots per day. Any pods not occupied within 15 minutes of the start time will be opened up for general use.

Make a Booking

To make a pod booking: 

  1. Click the button above. 
  2. Choose a time slot - available pods are indicated in green. Once selected the time slot will change to Amber. 
  3. Complete the booking details at the bottom of the screen and click ‘Submit my booking’. 
  4. You will receive an email confirming your booking.

 

Cancel your Booking 

You can cancel your booking up to 24 hours in advance. To cancel: 

  1. Locate your confirmation email; you will find a cancellation link in it 
  2. Click the cancellation link 
  3. Confirm cancellation as directed by the subsequent page 

If it is less than 24 hours in advance of your booking, please contact us to cancel. 

Quiet Study

Quiet study areas are for quiet collaborative work and independent study. Noise should be kept to a minimum in these areas. 

The Quiet Study area  

The Quiet Study area is L109, also known as the PC suite. This also houses our print journal, law and Study Skills collection.  

  • Windows 10 computers 
  • 4 iMac computers 
  • Open desk space with power outlets 
  • Multi Functional Printer/Scanner/Photocopier
All other quiet study areas

Includes the desks to the rear of the main book collection  and in the Atrium link corridor.

Silent Study

The silent study area is only for independent study. It is located in L106, a closed room to the rear of the Library, behind the main book collection.

  • Open desk space with power outlets 
  • Nearest printer is located in the library foyer
