In my role as Digital Learning Designer, I work primarily to support our staff in making our online learning materials engaging, accessible and effective. I love learning as much as I enjoy technology, so I feel very fortunate to work in a role where the two meet.
If a member of staff comes unstuck on Brightspace - our online learning environment - I love trying to solve the issue. As well as this, I look at the data which reveals how our students interact with Brightspace, using this to make recommendations for how to make our content even more effective.
Prior to working at the University of Suffolk, I worked as a primary school teacher and a teacher of English as an additional language. I taught in an inner London primary school for three years, before moving to Barcelona to teach English, and then Granada. I returned to Suffolk, where I grew up, again teaching in a primary school before moving into my current role.
I’m a lifelong fan of Ipswich Town Football Club, where I have a season ticket. I love walking in the countryside and visiting new places. I very much enjoy playing pool or darts, particularly against people who are marginally less skilled at it than me. I’m an avid gamer, so if I’m not out and about, I’m quite often on my Nintendo Switch or PS4. I also love anything that involves creating or fixing things, so I tend to go through phases of painting, drawing, baking, DIY, cooking or writing.
