Web Accessibility & Guide Checklist (Internal LibGuides)

This checklist includes both design elements which need to be considered and also specific Web Content Accessibility Guideline (WCAG) specifications where appropriate.

Finer technical details will be marked in RED and dealt with by a one of the Digital Learning Designers.
Tutorials on how to complete certain tasks are highlighted in GREEN.

The checklist below should be run through by the guide/information owner and is a specific list for the creation of Reading and Resource guides, it should also be seen as an addition to the 'General Guidance' checklist which has to also be adhered to.

Reading & Resource Guide Checklist

  • Layout needs to be balanced - 3 column default, if not enough content leaves empty spaces switch down to 2 column and balance.
  • Each page needs an instruction sentence at the top of the page.
    • Sign posting someone who visits the page is essential for making sure the the visitor knows where to go and what is expected of them whilst on the page. An introduction to a page can be as simple as "Welcome to this xx page, below you will find the relevant reading lists for this module, please remember that there are two types of list essential reading and recommended reading..." if there are additional resources, signpost to the visitor where they can be found and where to go for support.
