Nearly all of our guides on LibGuides should have a side menu for navigation. Only the subject guides should have horizontal tabs.
When you create a guide from scratch, you will be prompted to choose a layout for the navigation:
If you're editing the layout of an existing guide, you'll need to select 'Guide Navigation Layout' from the 'Guide Layout' dropdown menu (which looks like a picture in a frame).
This will give you the same options as if you were creating the guide from scratch.
