For Nursing, Health and Science students doing research (L5) or dissertation (L6) modules
The aim of this practical* workshop is to enable students studying Nursing, Health and Science courses to search specialist databases effectively. This will enable you to find primary research papers and to document your search strategy.
*If possible, please bring your own device to use in the session, laptops are also available for use in L107
By the end of the session you will students will:
Understand how to conduct an effective search using a number of subject specialist databases
Be able to identify appropriate search terms for the topic or research question
Be able to apply database limiters and filters
Be able to evaluate search results and understand how to make the final selection of papers
Know how to locate full-text for your chosen papers
This workshop will be helpful if you are required to undertake a systematic literature review, or a structured literature search of any kind.
