2025 IBILTA Conference: Awards

IBILTA Awards

The IBILTA conference is an opportunity to make new connections, explore new ideas, and to celebrate success. The IBILTA Awards aims to recognise excellence and innovation in block and intensive modes of teaching. Our awards ceremony will follow the conference dinner.

Process for applications

  • Applications for awards can be made 1st March 2025 - 16th May 2025
  • Awards will be reviewed by a panel of peers. The panel will comprise of four academics from at least two institutions. Each application will be assessed by two panel members. A panel member can not assess an award for which they are a nominee. 
  • Award winners will be announced at the IBILTA Conference Awards Dinner Thursday 26th June 2025

Criteria

All applications must address the following criteria:

  • Approaches to block or intensive-based teaching, research and / or support of learning that influence, motivate and inspire students to learn. 
  • Innovation, leadership or scholarship in block or intensive learning and teaching that has influenced, and enhanced learning and teaching and / or the student experience. 
  • Community recognition, e.g., publication, institution, peers, previous awards, other organisations, accreditation etc. 

Examples of evidence

All applications must include evidence. Examples of possible sources of evidence include:

  • student survey results and comments
  • testimonials from teaching colleagues, colleagues who have adopted approaches based on nominee's work or industry / professional stakeholders. 
  • learning system analytics
  • publications, citations, awards etc. 

Award categories

We have the following award categories. Applications may be made at an individual or team-basis (2-10 individuals).  It is also possible to nominate a colleague for one of these awards. 

This award recognises the commitment of academics to block and / or intensive-based pedagogies, who have delivered significant enhancements to the learning experience, achievement or employment outcomes for students. 

The early career award acknowledges the outstanding contributions of academics who are early career academics (less than 3 years in practice) who have demonstrated their commitment to and understanding of block and / or intensive-based pedagogies and the positive impacts for their students.

Block and / or intensive based modes of learning and teaching often have active learning approaches embedded into curriculum design and delivery. This award recognises innovative practices developed or adopted by academics and professional services in their work with students.

The pedagogical research award acknowledges contributions to the advancement of block and intensive modes of learning and teaching. Individual and team-based submissions will be considered.

This award recognises the best poster presented at the IBILTA 2025 Transforming Education Conference. This award is voted for by conference delegates.

This award recognises an outstanding contribution to the block and intensive learning and teaching community for the advancement of the pedagogy, innovation, or leadership.
