How to become a member

Becoming a member of the University of Suffolk library offers a range of valuable benefits. You’ll gain access to a wealth of resources and services to greatly enhance your research, learning and personal development.

  • Extensive collection: gain on-site access to a vast collection of books, journals, databases, and digital resources spanning a comprehensive subject portfolio.
  • Borrowing privileges: depending on your membership type, you may be entitled to borrow materials from the library's collection.
  • Study spaces and facilities: enjoy a conducive environment for study and research, with access to quiet study areas, computer workstations, printing facilities, and other amenities. The library offers a welcoming and focused space where you can concentrate and immerse yourself in your academic pursuits.
  • Request interlibrary loans: depending on your membership type, this service allows you to request and borrow materials from other libraries outside the University of Suffolk for an additional charge through our Interlibrary Loan Scheme.

Whether you are pursuing academic research, professional development, or personal interests, the library offers a diverse selection of materials to support your needs.

Please note that we cannot provide off-site access to eResources for External Members due to licensing restrictions. eResources include both online journals/journal articles and eBooks. 

We are unable to accept membership applications where individuals are unable to provide an active email address and phone number. 


Types of membership

Please be advised that individuals not currently affiliated with the university must complete a membership application before being granted entry into the library building.
