System down time 7th June 2018 - 8:00 to 10:00
On Thursday 7th June, Learning Services will be upgrading our Library Management System (Heritage) to a newer version of the same product.
During this time you will not be able to access your library account to;
- View loans, requests and charges
- Renew items
- Reserve items
- Search for book availability in the library
All of our self-service kiosks will also be unavailable during this period and helpdesk staff will be manually issuing, returning and renewing.
If you are unable to make it into the library and need to renew or request items during this time, please contact us via learningservices@uos.ac.uk. We will process your enquiry and be in touch as soon as we can.
All online access to Journals and eBooks will be not be affected and will still be available as usual.
As a result of the upgrade, users will notice some improvements which include;
Guided Search
The Guided search is a new feature that is a quick and easy method of finding specific works. For example, enter words from the title then narrow down the search further by entering an author name, edition or publication year.
Print and email search results
You are now able to print or email any results found in your search to yourself, by selecting the options shown on the right hand side.
This would be especially useful if you are low on time and wish to revisit your search at a later date.
Search results that are emailed contain links that will take you back to the catalogue, where items can be located in the library or reserved for collection at a later date.
Change display
It is also possible to change the sorting order of your results, should you want to view items by publication date for example.
Renew All
Using the new select all option you are now able to renew all items at once.
The check box for a given loan doesn't show if renewal is not allowed and an explanation is provided.
Mobile responsive
The site is now mobile responsive and the design changes depending on the size of your screen. this make them much easier to use on a phone or tablet.
My Account
Improvements to your account include;
