Last year the University reviewed its learning environment, Blackboard Learn. Following an extensive project it was decided to help improve both staff and student engagement the University needed a platform that made the learning experience more modern, engaging and fully accessible. Following a rigorous tender process, which included students and staff testing Brightspace, as well as offerings from Blackboard and Canvas, the University selected Brightspace. The platform was chosen for its ease-of-use, responsive design, learning analytics capabilities and flexibility.
D2L’s Brightspace offers a responsive and personalised learning experience with powerful learning analytics capabilities, integrated social media, chat, game-based learning and advanced video features, making it well suited to the modern student and Suffolk's desire to be a 'Digital First' institution.
Brightspace has launched for the new 2018 - 2019 academic year for all courses at Suffolk. Learning Services will be running a number of drop-in session in the new Learning Innovation Hub, within the Library Building. These sessions will run through the induction period, before changing into themed workshops as part of the core workshop offering from the department.
Brightspace offers you access to:
Returning Students Brightspace has been live since August 2018, following testing and piloting from February 2018. You will now need to access Brightspace instead of Learn to access your 17/18 and 18/19 module and course areas. A small group of modules will use Learn for a final assignment submission, these modules are based in the Nursing subject area. We would ask you to confirm with your lecturers if you are a nursing student with an assessment board in September. |
