How to request digitised sections for your Brightspace modules, and the facts around allowances

Making a request

Requesting digitised materials

To request a digitised section to use in your Brightspace module (scanned book chapter/section or journal article) please complete the relevant form on the 'Make a Request' section

To avoid copyright infringement all digitised sections must be requested via Learning Services, please do not scan and upload sections yourself

How much can I request for my module?

How much can I request?

For each Brightspace module you may use the following amount from each specific title (providing we hold a copy, and it is covered for scanning under our CLA licence):

  • No more than one chapter from a book
  • No more than one article from a journal issue
  • No more than 10%* of a given work, whichever is greater

*Due to an amendment to this year's copyright licence there may be cases where we are able to digitise larger portions of texts, potentially up to 2 chapters or 20%.  Please make requests up to this limit if required and we will let you know if this is possible
