It never hurts to prepare handouts based on your posters. Although reproductions of your poster on size A4 paper is useful when presenting at conferences, for an assignment, an executive summary or copy of your abstract with some images from your poster may be more effective.
It is also a good idea to prepare and rehearse a "narrative description" of your poster, including 3-4 sentences that encapsulate your work, to present as part of your assignment, if necessary.
