Food & Drink Policy

Introduction

This policy is designed to balance the reasonable needs of University of Suffolk users to keep hydrated and refreshed whilst studying with the need to maintain a pleasant, safe, clean and non-disruptive study environment for all users.

It will be regularly reviewed in the light of current public health and other factors.

 
Policy
  • The consumption of cold food, cold drinks and hot drinks is permitted in the main group study area, the study pods and on the mezzanine of the University of Suffolk Library.
  • The consumption of hot food is only permitted in the ground floor Student Union area before entering the Library.
  • Consumption of cold and hot drinks is permitted in the Quiet Study and Silent Study rooms, and in the seating adjoining the book stacks. No food is allowed in these areas.
  • Alcoholic drinks are not permitted in any part of the University of Suffolk Library.
  • All waste must be placed in the appropriate recycling or waste bins, located throughout the library.
  • Users are asked to ensure that study spaces remain clean and usable, and that any spillages etc. are cleaned up.

 

Drinking Water

Drinking water dispensers are provided in the following locations:

  • By the main library security gates (first floor)
  • Next to the reprographics station (first floor)

 

Enforcement

Users seen to be bringing the following into the University of Suffolk Library:

  • alcoholic drinks
  • hot food

will be asked by staff to remove them from the building. Failure to comply will result in users being asked to leave the Library.
