Welcome to the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching  (CELT) at the University of Suffolk. CELT works to support the development of an excellent learning and teaching experience for our students and staff. We support institutional priorities and projects of strategic importance, including those related to our Access and Participation agenda; such as retention and progression, student experience, and ensuring that our students leave the University as confident, globally aware graduates.

The work we do focuses on:

  • Development of an inclusive curriculum: through ongoing enhancement of our pedagogic approaches, and our course design models and blueprints. This is achieved through course design and development events and toolkits including transition into University-level study, the development of approaches to blended learning, effective, constructive and creative use of assessment and feedback, and the embedding of employability and entrepreneurship into the curriculum.
  • Staff development and engagement: in learning and teaching focused CPD and reflection activities. This includes academic qualification (PgCAP), structured development programmes to support progression (for example to Senior Lecturer and Course Leader), HEA Fellowship, the sharing of good practice, peer review and reflection and our annual Learning and Teaching Forum and Conference.
  • Research: lead through the Centre for Research in Education, we have a number of areas of specialism in applied research including practice education, and improving access to and progression from higher education; social mobility.
