Understanding Turnitin
When you submit an assignment at the University of Suffolk, it will be run through the TurnItIn system, which supports staff and students in checking for plagiarism. In doing so, it will generate a 'similarity report' that gauges how similar it is to previous submissions via Turnitin. Normally this is just seen by your lecturers however you will be able to submit a draft submission where you can see this score for yourself. To help you understand this process, please read through the guide below:
Draft Submission Attempts
At Level 3 (Foundation), Level 4 and Level 5 you will get UNLIMITED attempts to submit a draft and see your Similarity Report.
At Level 6 and Level 7 you will only get ONE attempt to submit a draft and see your Similarity Report.
Note: Ensure you upload your draft work before submitting your final assignment submission. If you submit the final work before submitting the draft, your draft will show 100% as it will see your final piece of work as a complete copy, therefore a high similarity score. When submitting a draft it is not stored in Turnitin, so when you do submit your final assignment, it does not get checked against the draft.
