Evening and Weekend Guide

Circulation & Literature Searching 

You will be expected to support patrons with circulation questions and literature searching at the helpdesk, over LibAnswers and LibChat.

WMS contains all catalogued material (print books and DVDs) and online resources. 

It is encouraged that second and third-year students also use external databases and journals via the A-Z of eResources and A-Z of eJournals.

Circulation 

Loan Types

At the University of Suffolk, we have four loan types. 

Loan Type Spine Label Loan Length
3 week loan Green (older labels appear white) 3 weeks
1 week loan Yellow 1 week
Overnight loan Blue 1 day
Reference only Red N/A

Please note, patrons that have incurred fees of £10 or higher will have a loan stop placed on their account. This will prevent them from issuing more books or renewing their current loans. 

Students with SENDA status are entitled to an extra week on 1 week loans, but no additional time for 3 week loans.

Loan Entitlement

Patrons are entitled to make 8 reservations (10 if they're a final year undergraduate) and to the below loan quantities:

WWS Discovery

WWS Discovery is the University of Suffolk Library's discovery tool. It searches all of the resources that the Library has purchased or subscribed to: both print and eResources. 

You can access WWS Discovery through the library website.

A-Z of eResources 

The A-Z of eResources is a resource that lists all databases and eResources available via the University of Suffolk.

The list is searchable by title and has filters to search by subject, type and vendor. 

 

A-Z of eJournals

The A-Z of eJournals is a resource that lists all eJournals available via the University of Suffolk.

The list is searchable by keyword and ISSN.
