Backup

Helpdesk Backup 

When not on the Helpdesk, you will work as the backup person. The backup person will need to work through essential tasks in order to ensure the smooth running of the library.

You will need to work on the following tasks:

  • Returning items from the returns boxes
  • Shelving the returns
  • Running & completing the pull list
  • Checking any claims returned / claims missing
  • Reprographics requests
  • Digitisation requests
  • Reading lists
  • Stock management
  • General library duties i.e. tidying, stocking printer paper, collecting books around the library

Priorities

You will be expected to complete all essential tasks before moving on to additional tasks

  • Make progress with any new or current claims or missing forms

Scanning of allocated materials

Shelving and shelf tidying
Library Tidying
  • Clear piles of books return to shelves or place in returns box
  • Check and clear expired leaflets and posters
  • Empty water-cooler run off
Printer Maintenance
  • Check that all paper drawers are full
  • Fill A3 and A4 paper lockers
  • Report any malfunctions to IT Helpdesk
Stock management
  • Receiving
  • Processing
  • Cataloguing
  • Mending
  • Withdrawing
