University of Suffolk Locker Policy

Duration  

Term time loans 

  • Standard locker loans are for the duration of one term.  
  • Loans are non-renewable.  
  • All keys must be returned on the last day of each term by 7:00 pm 
  • The library will advertise each return due date clearly both online and in the library space.  
  • Locker keys must be returned via the helpdesk or self-service kiosks  
  • Fines will be applied for overdue returns. 

Holidays 

  • Out of term locker usage cannot be guaranteed due to audit and inspection. 
  • Where available, out of term time lockers will be loaned for one day use from 8:30am – 7:00 pm weekdays or 5pm on Saturdays
  • Locker keys must be returned via the helpdesk or self-service kiosks  
  • Fines will be applied for overdue returns.  

Penalties  

Term time loans 

  • There is a 2-day overdue grace period for term time loans. On the 3rd day overdue, a non-waivable fine of £5 will be added to the account. Physical loaning privileges will be suspended until this has been paid.  
  • On the 7th day overdue, “Long Overdue” status will be triggered. A further £20 replacement fine will be added to your account. This can be removed once the locker key has been returned.  
  • On the 14th day overdue, your locker will be emptied, and belongings added to our lost and found collection.  
  • On the 28th day overdue, all items in the lost and found will be disposed of.  

Holidays 

  • Lockers will become overdue at 7:00pm the same day.  
  • A £5 fine and physical loan suspension will be in place from day 1 overdue.  
  • Further fines will follow the structure and timeline of “term time loans”. 

General Use 

  • You can use one locker at a time  
  • Lockers are only accessible during Library opening hours.  
  • Locker must be kept in good and clean condition.  
  • The Locker shall not be used for storage of any inappropriate contents, including but not limited: illegal or offensive materials, perishable items, valuable items, or articles belonging to anyone other than the loan patron. 
  • The library reserves the right to inspect lockers without patron notification if there is reasonable cause to suspect these conditions have not been met. 
  • The library reserves the right to terminate your loan and restrict loan privileges if the locker policy has been breached.
