About Library & Learning Services: Printing Guidelines for External Library Members

Printing Guidelines for External Users

All external printing must be submitted to staff at the help desk via learningservices@uos.ac.uk. To ensure our resources are available for use by all patrons, please ensure your requests meet the following criteria before submitting for printing.

Key Policies

Academic Use Only: All printing must be for academic purposes directly related to your research or study.

No Personal Documents: Personal documents are not permitted and will be refused by library staff.

Excessive Quantities: For large print jobs, we may ask you to collect your printing at a later, specified time. This helps us manage demand and ensures a smoother process for everyone.

Large printing jobs are defined as 3 documents, or 50 pages, whichever comes first. If your printing exceeds these limits a member of staff will be in contact with you to discuss a collection time. If you need your printing by a specific deadline, it is your responsibility to ensure you leave plenty of time for this.

Payments: We no longer accept large cash payments at the Library helpdesk. All payments of £5 or more must be made using the online shop. A library staff member will direct you to this.

 Your Responsibility

It is your responsibility to ensure that all of your print requests meet these criteria. While our staff do not monitor content at the printers, any job that does not comply with this policy will be declined.

If you are unsure whether your printing needs meet the above criteria, please ask a member of staff for guidance before submitting your request.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us maintain a productive environment for all library users.
