Description:

Looking at your student journey, the careers team are dedicated to signposting different extracurricular activities and support available that students may otherwise not know about. There are huge benefits to getting involved with different activities to complement your degree, particularly when considering your career path. The session will welcome alumni to speak with students, answering any questions at the end.

Student Experience Ambassador Event

12-1pm

Student Experience Ambassadors, Learning and Teaching.

Description:

1 hour long drop-in run by all SEA’s. Students are encouraged to come by for an informal chat to get to know their SEA’s. Questions and queries encouraged, drop in anytime during the hour window.

Book your 1:1 career session. If you’re unsure what is expected at university and unfamiliar with the resources, the careers team are offering their time to walk you through different resources available. They will also be offering 1:1 appointment to discuss how you can complement your degree while studying. It's never too early to build on your experiences, skills or CV.

Planning your assignment

Description:

Not too sure where to start with your assignment? Feeling unsure about what to do next?

It is important that students have at their disposal strategies for planning written assignments as this underpins the quality of their work.

Outline of session

The session will include the following: 

  • The basic structure and content of an essay assignment
  • Approaches to planning an assignment
  • Breaking down of assignment questions
  • Structure of an essay, including introductions and conclusions.
  • Structure for an academic paragraph

Learning Outcomes    

By the end of the session students will: 

  • Have an awareness of the basic structure of an assignment
  • Have an awareness of different stages for assignment planning
  • Be aware of standard do’s and don’ts of academic writing styles
  • Be aware of support routes for assignment planning/drafting
