• Understand how reading with purpose makes academic reading more manageable  

• Consider the sources of text and efficiently record your reading   

• Leave with strategies to effectively manage and evaluate academic texts, speed up your reading time and ultimately become a more effective and active reader

Feeling rusty in writing for your assignments? This workshop will provide you with an introduction to the key tenets of Academic English.

Learning outcomes:

  • Define academic writing.
  • Examine the vocabulary used in academic writing. 
  • Understand key stylistic conventions in academic writing. 
  • Compare and evaluate examples of academic writing used in assignments.

We will examine best practice, consider the use of tools and apps, and welcome the group's experience to highlight the diverse approaches to studying.
