Led by Dr Ellen Buck, Director of Learning and Teaching

Scope

This task and finish group is working to equip staff with the knowledge, confidence and skills to further inclusivity in learning teaching and assessment, to understand current debates about EDI and education and the different approaches that have been used to address issues of discrimination, disadvantage and unconscious bias.

Working in collaboration with AdvanceHE, the participants in the group will have the opportunity to participate in a development programme which will explore:

  • an introduction to EDI in learning and teaching
  • the inclusive curriculum
  • inclusive and equitable assessment and feedback
  • inclusive engagement.

Outputs

Expected outputs from this group are:

  • the development of in-house training to support course teams in the design and delivery of an inclusive curriculum,
  • the development and embedding of a formative philosophy in pedagogic practice,
  • the publication of guidance as part of the course design blueprint to ensure that inclusivity is embedded into all aspects of learning and teaching design and delivery including assessment and feedback,
  • the development, pilot and roll out of inclusive student voice mechanisms which can be collated for reporting and use,
  • the development of an evaluation framework to measure the impact of changes in the recruitment, retention and achievement of our students.
