Rationale

Blended Learning  should not be reserved for distance learning or course/programmes that have online components, but rather something that would benefit learners generally across all disciplines.

Blended Learning as defined by Higher Education Academy (now a part of AdvanceHE ) describes Blended Learning as a pedagogy which "combines face-to-face and online activities in a seamless and complementary flow of learning".

Aims

The aim of this workshop is to allow academic staff to explore what Blended Learning is and how it can be accomplished using a variety of approaches and tools.

The session will look at:

  • Instructional design and its application to your course
  • Linking learning environments, spaces and experiences
  • Blocks of learning and transitions
