Assessment, EMA and Turnitin

19 July 2019

You will be aware that a Task and Finish Group was convened this year to explore various aspects of Assessment and Feedback across the University. One of the outcomes of this group was that a baseline set of processes for the electronic management of assessment (EMA) would be adopted across all of the University of Suffolk provision in Ipswich for academic year 2019-2020. The aim of this step is to ensure that our students have a more consistent experience of effective assessment and feedback.

We recognise that these are processes which are commonly in operation across the University and that for many colleagues, meeting these baseline requirements will call for, if any, only minor changes to practice. However, should you have any particular questions or can already identify any particular support that may be required individually or collectively in implementing EMA then please let us know.

In the coming weeks, we will be providing you with updates regarding these processes and will be aiming to provide support events, training and on-going guidance where necessary. We are also anticipating that you will need to work closely with your Course Administrator and fellow members of your Course Team to ensure a consistent experience for our students.
