Quality and Governance

In this section we set out the governance under which our courses operate.  In general, on each page we provide background and links to more detailed information and guidance as appropriate.


The regulation and monitoring of apprenticeship programmes is much more demanding than for most other higher education courses.  There are specific requirements for delivery including for the amount of learning that is provided (20% off the job training), requirements for tracking students attendance and progress, and rules for end point assessment setting.  All apprenticeships have to be written in line with an apprenticeship standard (see the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education website for these) and the regulation of apprenticeships includes visits from Ofsted. The University has an apprenticeship team that should be consulted when teams are exploring the development of new apprenticeship programmes.
